Taranaki was treated to a great show by the dynamic 10-piece group . . . Batucada Sound Machine at the stunning setting of Pukekura Park's annual Festival of Lights. I was fortunate to be present to see and hear the show - Brazilian, funk, hip-hop, reggae and Pacific soul influenced musical performance, with vocals in Portuguese, Spanish and English! Truly a fun night, thanks guys Recently I had the fun of being the photographer to document a fabulous 1930's Hollywood themed Murder Mystery Party. In keeping with the theme, I jumped at the chance to play dress ups. I spent the early part of the evening rubbing shoulders with famous actors, writers, directors and wannabe actresses and then bowed out of the party before I could be implicated. They were all a highly suspicious bunch - each with a strong motive for being the one who done it! So just who WAS the murderer? Did the writer do it? Bravo to Stu for being the brains behind organising such a fabulous fun evening of murder, mayhem, fun and intrigue! What a fun evening last night turned into. It was the TABLE4TEN annual charity event to raise awareness and funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Myself, Susie and Matt, shared the job of documenting the evening by photographing the 21 tables for ten, at restaurants and boardrooms scattered all over Hobart. My trusty sidekick Jodi, from Edible Social Media, kindly agreed to be my assistant for the evening, providing me with drop offs and pickups to the doors of my allocated venues, it was quite a night! Our evening kicked off at the Chairmans Lounge at the Bellrieve Oval, onto The Source at MONA, next the boardroom at the new RACT building, Ethos in Elizabeth St, followed by a spin in the revolving restaurant at the top to the Wrest Point Casino tower and lastly to a private residence in Taroona. Come 9pm the secret location of the afternoon party was announced and the scattered parties all converged on the Hobart Museum courtyard for a continuation of the party atmosphere, live band, fundraising auctions, and of course more drinks and nibbles. I take my hat off to Darren Alexander for his tireless efforts in bringing this whole event to fruition, truly a memorable evening. Photographs from the evening will appear on the Table4Ten website over the coming weeks. On Tuesday I had the pleasure of photographing some gorgeous silk evening gowns for the very talented designer Najibeh Nafari. Great team work in the studio with many thanks to Rachel Beswick from "Some Hallucination" for her excellent hair styling and makeup. Also big thanks to my muse, my model, my niece Grace - whose good humour makes her a pleasure to work with! Hi, I just realised that I have been neglecting my blog - oooops, so many fun projects on the go! Carly joined me in the studio yesterday for a fun session of portraits. We shot several different "looks" . . . contemporary portraits, business profile pics for her graphic design business, "Carly Design" plus some edgier ones for her to use for her music promotion as well. We also shot some "moving pictures" in the form of some business promo videos for Carly to incorporate into her new website which will be up and running soon. We had a busy time, lots of laughs and created together a broad range of great images! You're a good sport Carly, thanks for your good company, Helen I had the pleasure of fellow photographer Jessica King in the studio this week. We chatted and laughed a lot and eventually got around to the reason we were there together - to shoot some promo portraits for her. Fresh and fun was the brief, so here she is - looking just that! Thanks for your company Jess! |
